OAK STUDIO + GALLERY

Transforming a local communter train station to a collaborative hub designed to nourish the grounded creative roots of Kildare.
Branding + Strategy
RSA Transformation Station
2022

Kildare Town is seen to be a commuter town, a town, a place where you live in order to work in Dublin. As a result, the town is seen to be lifeless and lacks a community. Oak Studio+Gallery is inspired by the Latin meaning of Kildare (Cill Dara) meaning Church of the Oak. We developed a plan with Kildare County Council to grow the arts scene in Kildare and utilize the historic train station for this creative hub with a focus on human centred design. We identified the problems to create a pathway of process and proposal by breaking down our strategy into four sections: research and insights, social and environmental impacts, viability and systems thinking.

For the branding of this project, we wanted to create an organic free-flowing custom typeface reflects the creative grounding this studio nurtures for the town of Kildare. The continuous growth and expansion of the creative roots in Kildare, this studio supports local artists and creates a platform for creativity to be accessible. The logo is inspired by the organic nature of an oak tree, taking inspiration from the rings of an oak tree. The logotype has a free form feel representing the idea of a creative flow and inclusivity which can be adapted for various events within the arts.
